Stage Special effects Lighting & Stage Drapery

Stage lighting is the craft of lighting as it applies to the production of theatre, dance, opera, and other performance arts. Several different types of stage lighting instruments are used in this discipline. In addition to basic lighting, modern stage lighting can also include special effects, such as lasers and fog machines. People who work on stage lighting are commonly referred to as lighting technicians or lighting designers.

The equipment used for stage lighting (e.g., cabling, dimmers, lighting instruments, controllers) are also used in other lighting applications, including corporate events, concerts, trade shows, broadcast television, film production, photographic studios, and other types of live events. The personnel needed to install, operate, and control the equipment also cross over into these different areas of “stage lighting” applications

Parameters to consider while designing Stage Lighting solutions are Color, Intensity, Direction, Focus, Positioning, hanging arrangements. All lights are loosely classified as either floodlight (wash lights) or spotlights. The distinction has to do with the degree to which one is able to control the shape and quality of the light produced by the instrument, with spotlights being controllable, sometimes to an extremely precise degree, and floodlights being completely uncontrollable.

Many different types of LED and Lamp based Lighting fixtures are available – PAR CANS, Profile Lights, Fresnel, Zoom Profile, Spot Light, Wash lights, Moving heads, etc. Nomenclature of these changes from brand to brand and country to country.

Selecting a good Lighting Mixing console (Lighting controller) with appropriate DMX channels for managing the effects during the show is very important. Digital consoles are being deployed in many good venues which enables to store a sequence of events through presents and enables easy operation.

Motorized bars for Lightings are used for easy maintenance with control through a button panel on stage.

Motorized curtains, Stage proscenium, Side wings, Cyclorama Screen at the back of the stage for enhancing effects, forms a part of Stage drapery.
